At the end of her mandate as president of the IAAS, Dr. Beverly K. Philip describes the 13th edition of International Congress on Ambulatory Surgery Congress as one of the best IAAS congresses ever organized. Happy with the "outstanding program", the quality and friendliness of the environment but "more importantly, the quality of the education", she gives an overview of the last three days in Centro de Congressos da Alfândega do Porto, in the interview below.
Commenting on her last international congress as President of the IAAS, Beverly K. Philip leaves the 2019 edition with a feeling of mission accomplished. "We have covered education for nurses, for administrators, for surgeons, for anaesthesiologists" in their respective fields of practice, she refers, particularly highlighting the focus on team education. "Team education and team practice are exactly what Ambulatory Surgery is about", she adds.
The need for education is always ongoing. The specialist feels confident that the organization will continue to strengthen the educational programs in the conferences scheduled for the next two years: the 3rd European Congress (Madrid, 2020) and the 14th edition of the International Conference (Bruges, 2021). In her view, "using all the talents of the people in our organization" is the key to excellence in Ambulatory Surgery.
